Global Strategic Management 6MNST001W 2020-21 Sem 2 Assessment 1, 2, 3

Assessment rationale, methods and weightings
Assessment 1:
 Assessment title – strategy simulation group work
 Proportion of the overall mark for the module – 25%
 Word limit or other relevant dimension(s) – N/A
 For more details please check Blackboard
Assessment 1 rationale is mainly ‘assessment as learning’. Students will be required to get
themselves into groups of five within the seminar they belong to by week 2. The assessment
enables students to learn about strategic decisions in a simulated environment that reflects
real life situations. The business simulation enables students to analyse market, financial
and human resource information weekly in order to make complex decisions. The
assessment for this module has been designed in the full expectation that formative
assessment is completed, as directed by the module leaders. Failure to do so is likely to
impact on the student’s ability to pass the module. Because students receive weekly
feedback and comments on their performance in the simulation during the seminars,
extensive formative learning is built into the module.
In order to receive the simulation mark all students should register individually on the
simulation website and fill in the group learning contract. The learning contract is available in
a form of a test on Blackboard. Failure to fill in the learning contract and to register on the
website might result in the mark 0% for the simulation even if the student fully participated in
the group work.

Assessment 2:
 Assessment title – portfolio
 Proportion of the overall mark for the module – 50%
 Word limit or other relevant dimension(s) – N/A
 For more details please check Blackboard
The assessment 2 rationale is to test knowledge and application of theories taught in the
module. It is designed as a series of three multiple-choice online tests that are focused on
the following subjects:
1. Simulation guidance
2. External environment analysis + internal environment analysis
3. Business ethics, CSR and leadership

Assessment 3:
 Assessment title – In-class online test
 Proportion of the overall mark for the module – 25%
 Word limit or other relevant dimension(s) – N/A
 For more details please check Blackboard
The assessment 3 rationale is to allow students to demonstrate the learning acquired
throughout the module by analysing different real life case studies. The test is designed as a
critical reasoning test
